Just like the United States of America, India has one of the largest populations of programmers. Due to the educational policy of the country and the emphasis on STEM education, many Indians are actively involved in programming. In almost all prominent programming-based jobs, several Indians are employed. Within the last decade, more Indians have ventured into the field of programming. The remarkable thing is that most of these programmers are self-thought. Many have eventually become famous for what they do. In no particular order, the famous Indian Programmers are discussed below.

Harsha Suryanarayana

Harsha Suryanarayana studied Computer and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Information, Allahabad. He is considered one of the best Indian programmers. He was considered one of the best programmers on Top Coder. He has on many occasions represented India in various competitions all around the world. He became the first Indian to qualify for the Google Code Jam Competition. After graduation, Suryanarayana opted out of working for big tech companies. Rather, he put his efforts into creating websites that provide coding learning information and tools. Unfortunately, Harsha Suryanarayana passed during a car accident in 2014.

Nikhita Raghunath

Nikhita Raghunath is a young and vibrant programmer who is deeply involved in the development of cloud computing solutions. Over the years, she has made several contributions to the development of open-source programming while being a full-time staff at VMware. Apart from programming skills, Nikhita also has a degree in Electronics Engineering. However, most of her programming skills are self-thought. Apart from her main job at VMware, Nikhita also puts are good skills into the development of workflow software at Contributor Experience.

Akshay Miterani

Akshay is a programmer that lives in Bangalore Urban, Karnataka, India. Over the years, he has been a highly ranked programmer since his university days. Immediately after his graduation, Akshay embraced the opportunity to hold an internship position at Amazon in Hyderabad Area. Additionally, Akshay was able to secure other internship positions at ITT-Bombay and the world-renowned Morgan Stanley. At the moment, Akshay works as a software engineer at Google, Bangalore Urban, Karnataka, India.

Umasankar Mukkara

Umasankar Mukkara is a top software developer who has been active within the programming field for over a decade. Krish Naik is one of the top programmers in India. He has several years of experience as a programmer within the country. His expertise had even led him to open a YouTube channel with close to 300,000 subscribers. Before starting his adventures on the video social media platform, Krish Naik has had over 10 years of experience in software development. He is also an expert in project implementation within the IT sector. Over the years, Krish Naik has worked as a deep learning expert, a data scientist, and as a machine learning expert. In addition, he has amassed significant knowledge of finance within the IT sector.

Dhaval Patel

As a programmer, Dhaval Patel has developed into an excellent coder over a span of 15 years. Dhaval graduated from Dharmsinh Desai University in Gujarat, where he studied computer science. After graduating, Dhaval worked in several companies. Now, Dhaval works as a software engineer at Bloomberg LP. He has been an employee in this company since 2010. Dhaval is considered an expert in various complex fields of computers, which include deep learning, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Arjun Arul

Arjun Arul is a famous yet accomplished programmer. He is known throughout India for his success in the annual ACM ICPC World Finals. On two occasions, Arjun won the competition between 2012 and 2013. Before becoming successful, Arjun was a student at Chennai Mathematical Institute. He obtained his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from this institution.

Fast forward, Arjun has settled into a regular job, where he works as a coder at CodeChef – a software development company in Mumbai. In addition, Arjun works as a coach with the Indian Computing Olympiad, where he helped young programmers prepare for coding competitions.

Anurag Acharya

Anurag Acharya is a well-known software engineer who was involved in the development of Google Scholar. As an Indian-American, Anurag earned his undergraduate studies at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur where he got a bachelor’s degree. In 1994, he when for his postgraduate education at Carnegie Mellon University.

After his education and a few jobs, Anurag got a job at Google. His work on the development of Google Scholar earned him the name Distinguished Engineer. In addition, he was featured in several local and international publications for his contributions to Google. Anurag is also an author. He has written a book titled Instant Microsoft SQL ServerAnalysis Services 2012 Dimensions and Cube.

Murali Chemuturi

Murali Chemuturi is a software developer and author. He has written over ten books on the development and management of software. Likewise, he has written two translation works. Being an academic mind, Murali has several journal papers to his name. Before rising to the top, Murali studied electrical engineering at SMVM Polytechnic. After his graduation, he enrolled in the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering. He also has an MBA from Osmania University. Murali has worked in several capacities in his career. The highlight of his career was becoming the vice president of software development at Chemuturi Consultants.

Arun Mehta

Arun Mehta began his journey into programming at IIT Delhi, where he studied computer science. He later obtained his Msc degree from Stony Brook University. After graduating, he worked with Siemens AG for several years before enrolling at Ruhr University for his Ph.D.

Throughout his career, Arun has been a disability advocate. He was involved in the development of software that detected early signs of Alzheimer’s disease at the University of Pittsburgh. Also, Arun and a colleague named Vickram Crishna created an open-source application that helps disabled people to communicate through speech and writing.
